Have you taken some time to be incredibly selfish lately?
The past few weeks, I’ve been busting my ass finishing writing my first novel and studying for my Information Systems CLEP (College Level Examination Program). Basically it’s like testing out of a class for college credit. I successfully passed my CLEP, wrote the conclusion of my 65,000 word novel, and now I’m ready to kick back and relax for a second.
I can see projects looming on the horizon: I want to start writing my second novel now that I’ve learned so much about the intricacies of long-form writing, I need five more CLEPs to finish my associate’s degree (all my required classes are done! I can take whatever I want now), there’s an exciting possibility of new video content coming, and I’ve been really considering branching out and doing some different things that I’ve never done before.
Which, it seems like now is as good of a time as any to quickly plug my socials so you don’t miss any of this exciting upcoming content:
But I’m not at the horizon yet and you know what? I’ve decided I’m going to take a full week to be incredibly selfish. To do only what I want, within reason. I’ll still be posting on my Patreon but I will be taking next week off from posting here. The only “obligation” I’ll be fulfilling until December 1st is attempting to make a proper Thanksgiving meal in a hotel room, but truth be told that’s going to be a labor of love. I can’t fathom letting the fourth Thursday in November passing without gorging myself on my famous homemade stuffing.
Even this post is rather selfish; sort of an antithesis to the general promotion of “attitude gratitude” I take on during this week. If that’s the sort of content you’d rather be reading, my post from last year has got you covered. But like the title of that post says: gratitude should come more than once a year. I live my life mindfully and with great appreciation for the people whom I love. You don’t really need me to rehash all that again, do you?
I hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday if you celebrate Thanksgiving. If you do not, then have a wonderful Thursday. I will see you all Monday, December 7th with a new blog post. If there’s anything in particular you’d like me to research, reflect on, or write about, please let me know by leaving me a comment either below or on the social platform of your choice. As always, thanks for reading ❤
